A FREE 48 week Physical Activity Programme offering mental wellbeing focused physical activity sessions. There will be an hour of physical activity sessions, followed by 30 minutes of facilitated discussion in the form of a ‘Wellbeing Workshop’. Anyone can be referred between 9-12 who’s physical and mental wellbeing could be improved via physical activities and wellbeing workshops.  The physical activity sessions can vary from dance, to football, to dodgeball, to running to Qi Gong and sessions are ran in Watford, Hemel and Borehamwood.

The programme is ideal for young people with diagnosed mild mental health issues**, or who are ‘at risk’ of developing mental health issues (for example, the programme may suit children who are struggling to integrate into their secondary school, withdrawing from school/activities, experiencing low mood, feeling lonely, or exhibiting some bad behaviour).  The programme may also be suitable for children in care, young carers, or children who have difficult home circumstances.

Children/young people may also be accepted if they have a more complex mental health diagnosis that is being managed well and where their needs are being supported by an existing service.

**Examples of diagnosis:

  • Comorbid physical health problem

  • Mild to moderate anxiety

  • Social isolation

  • Stress

  • Panic

  • Phobia

  • Bereavement

  • Low mood

  • Depression

  • Anger management

  • Eating disorders with BMI>18

NB. We also look to enrol anybody who's wellbeing would improve by participating in more exercise and workshops in the age ranges.
